The governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Kano State, Bashir Adamu Balanti, has called on residents of the state to embrace unity and collective development, pledging to run an inclusive government that will ensure equitable distribution of opportunities and development projects across the state if elected in 2027.
Balanti made the pledge during a series of consultations with community leaders, youth groups, women associations, and party supporters in Kano, where he outlined his vision for a government that prioritises fairness, justice, and equal participation in governance.
According to the PRP candidate, Kano’s strength lies in its diversity and shared heritage, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved when all communities feel represented and included in the decision-making process.
He said his administration would be guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness, with appointments and government programmes reflecting the diversity of the state.
“Kano belongs to all of us. Our administration will not discriminate on the basis of locality, social status, or political affiliation. Every citizen will have a stake in the government and in the future of our state,” Balanti said.
He also pledged to strengthen local government administration and ensure that rural communities receive greater attention in the provision of infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agricultural support.
Balanti said one of the priorities of his administration would be to bridge the development gap between urban and rural areas by expanding access to roads, schools, healthcare facilities, and economic opportunities across all 44 local government areas.
The PRP candidate further emphasised the need for greater youth and women participation in governance, promising to create platforms that would allow young people and women to contribute meaningfully to policymaking and economic development.
He noted that Kano has a large population of talented youths whose potential could be harnessed through education, entrepreneurship support, and skills development programmes.
“Our goal is to build a government that listens to the people, responds to their needs, and creates opportunities for everyone regardless of background,” he added.
Balanti urged political leaders and stakeholders to avoid divisive rhetoric and focus on issues that promote peace, unity, and development in the state.
He maintained that the 2027 governorship election should be an opportunity for Kano people to choose a leadership that prioritises inclusive governance, social cohesion, and long-term development.
Supporters at the meeting described Balanti’s message as a call for a more united and prosperous Kano, expressing confidence that inclusive governance would strengthen public trust and accelerate development across the state.
