The Nigerian Labour Congress NLC, has raised concern over some issues faced by working women in Nigeria.
NLC Chairperson of women committee Jigawa State chapter Comrade Salma Iliyasu Abubakar disclosed this while speaking at the 2026 International Women ‘s Day.
She said the theme for this year is “Right, Justice and Action for All women and girls” was aimed at ensuring deliberate and sustained efforts that will transform the lives of women and girls in society.
As a woman in the labour movement , we understand the realities faced by working women:
including wage inequality, limited representation in decision making , workplace harassment, and burden of balancing work with family responsibilities.
She said the event is an opportunity for women to amplify their voices, strengthen our networks, and push forward a shared agenda for gender equality and social justice.
