The Vice-Chancellor of Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences (JSUMAHS), Majia, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani, has paid a condolence and congratulatory visit to the Gumel Emirate Council following the death of the late Emir and the emergence of the 17th Emir of Gumel.
Professor Sani, who led a delegation of the university’s principal officers, expressed the condolences of the entire university community over the demise of His Highness, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani II, while congratulating the newly installed monarch on his ascension to the throne.
The visit followed the university delegation’s earlier attendance at the Janaza prayer of the late Emir on September 4, 2026.
Speaking during the visit, the Vice-Chancellor described the late monarch as a father, respected peace-builder and strong supporter of education and development in Jigawa State.
He said the late Emir’s contributions to the development of the state and the wellbeing of his people would remain memorable.
Professor Sani also prayed for wisdom, good health, peace and a successful reign for the new Emir.
He formally presented two letters to the Gumel Emirate Council on behalf of JSUMAHS—one conveying condolences over the death of the late Emir and the other congratulating the new monarch.
The delegation was received by the Dallatun Gumel, Alhaji Musa Ayuba, and the Secretary to the Gumel Emirate Council, Alhaji Murtala Aliyu.
Responding, the Dallatun Gumel appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the university management for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of the cordial relationship and mutual respect between JSUMAHS and the Gumel Emirate.
The university delegation included the Registrar, Muhammad Sale; Bursar, Sani Ahmad Sulaiman; University Librarian, Dr Muhammad Yusuf; Director, General Administration, A.B. Shehu; Dean, School of General and Preliminary Studies, Dr Usman Muhammad Ibrahim; Chief Security Officer, Alhaji Salisu Abdulkadir, and other senior officials.
The visit ended with prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Emir and for divine guidance, wisdom, good health and a peaceful reign for the new Emir.
