The Partnership for Development Action (PADAC Foundation) a focal NGO of Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has planted 1.5 million trees in three communities worst hit by climate change in JIgawa state.
PADAC Communication Officer in Jigawa State Abdullahi Mukhtar disclosed this at the tree planting campaign held in Ringim Local Government.
He said the development is part of its efforts to restore degraded lands, protect the environment, and strengthen local livelihoods.
According to him” the 1.5million tree planting targeted three communities of Dabi, Shafar and Furji in Ringim and Yankwashi local Government area mostly affected by flood and desertification”
“Each of the community was allocated 500 tree including economic and non economic trees “
STANDARD TRUST NEWS reported that PADAC has launched a 100,000 tree planting campaign tagged “Restore the Land, Unlock the opportunities” across the Jigawa State.
One of the beneficiaries of economic trees, Malama Harira of Dabi village in Ringim Local Government said, the development will help in recovering her economic stability lost as a result of flooding.
They promised to utilise the opportunity to achieve the desired goals.
