‎No fewer than 2,370 candidates have jostled for 500 teaching positions under the Jigawa State Government’s J-Tsangaya Programme.

The Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Tsangaya Education Board, Abubakar Maje, disclosed this while inspecting the ongoing CBT exercise in Dutse, Hadejia and Gumel.

‎He said, the candidates participated in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted by the Jigawa State Tsangaya Education Board on Saturday, August 29, 2026, across three designated centres in the state.

‎The recruitment is part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen and modernise Tsangaya education by providing qualified teachers to combine Qur’anic and modern education in Tsangaya schools.

‎The 500 positions approved for recruitment comprise 250 Alarammas, 150 NCE graduates and 100 graduates.

‎The candidates sat for the examination simultaneously at the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State College of Education, Gumel, and Binyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia.

According to him” ‎At FUD, Dutse, a total of 718 candidates participated in the exercise, while 961 candidates sat for the examination at the Jigawa State College of Education, Gumel”

“‎Another 691 candidates took part in the exercise at Binyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia, bringing the total number of applicants to 2,370.”

‎The Board said the examination was conducted peacefully, orderly and transparently, with the process well coordinated across the three centres.

‎The recruitment is expected to provide additional manpower for Mega, Model and Integrated Tsangaya Schools across the state.

‎Maje noted that, the J-Tsangaya Programme is part of the state government’s broader efforts to reform the Almajiri education system and ensure that learners receive both Qur’anic and modern education.

‎He said, the initiative is also aimed at building a more organised, inclusive and sustainable Tsangaya education system in Jigawa State.
