The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has warned its members that those who fail to deliver their polling units and wards for the party in the 2027 general elections will not be considered for federal appointments.
The APC state chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, gave the warning on Sunday at the party secretariat in Umuahia during a post-primary election reconciliation meeting.
Chukwu said the party would monitor the electoral performance of its leaders and stakeholders during the 2027 elections, stressing that appointments would be based on their contributions and ability to deliver electoral victories.
He said the results from the polling units, wards and constituencies of APC leaders would be published after the elections and forwarded to the party’s national leadership for assessment.
“Let me tell you, we are working out a modality where people will be rewarded according to their output. If you think you have contacts in Abuja and you lose your polling unit, ward and constituency, and you expect to be made a minister, it is impossible under this regime,” Chukwu said.
He added that anyone who could not win his polling unit, ward or constituency “has no business being made a federal commissioner or a minister.”
The chairman urged APC members to remain united and focused on securing victory for President Bola Tinubu and all the party’s candidates in Abia State in 2027.
He also cautioned the party’s House of Assembly candidates and other stakeholders against compromising the interests of the APC by supporting candidates of rival political parties.
Meanwhile, an APC member, Sam Anya, said the party had established a political structure in Ohafia aimed at securing victory for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.
Chukwu also inaugurated a peace committee headed by Madukwe Ukaegbu to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
