A suspected electric cable vandal was electrocuted on Saturday in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
A resident told Newen that the suspect was allegedly attempting to vandalise an electric cable when power was suddenly restored, resulting in his electrocution.
The resident said the suspect died instantly while carrying out the act.
He said, the incident happened at Sintilmawa village along Ringim to Dutse way where the suspect was discovered lifeless with his tools suspected to be using to carry out his activities.
Police Spokesman SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident is a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday Morning.
According to the command ” On 31/07/2026 at about 9:00am, a distress call was received that a body was seen lying motionless along Ringim To Sintilmawa Road”
He explained that, on receipt of the report, the patrol team from ringim rushed to the scene and observed that there were burns on both hands, the chest, and the pelvic area of the body.
SP. Shiisu said hand gloves, a hacksaw, and some sacks were discovered at the scene suspected the person was electrocuted while trying to vandalise the electric cable.
He said, the body was removed to the hospital, where it was confirmed dead by medical doctor.
SP. Shiisu said effort is on to identify the identity of the corpse while the case is under investigation.
The corpse was kept at Ringim General Hospital mortuary.
