The he Jigawa State Local Government Service Commission has taken its reform drive beyond Nigeria’s borders, with a high-powered delegation currently attending a six-day international capacity-building workshop in Kigali, Rwanda.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the spokesman of the Local Government Service Commission Najib Umar issued to newsmen.
The workshop, which focuses on leadership, policy formulation and effective implementation, is expected to equip participants with practical strategies for improving public sector performance and institutional efficiency at the local government level.
The delegation comprises the three Commissioners — Alhaji Aliyu Yahaya Jahun, Sani Umar Madachi and Abdullahi Idris Dauraw — alongside the Permanent Secretary, Lawal Muhammad Haruna, and the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Sani Yahaya.
In his goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, DIG Uba B. Ringim (Rtd.), described the engagement as part of a broader vision to modernize local government administration in Jigawa State.
He urged the participants to represent the state and the nation with distinction and ensure that the knowledge acquired is transferred to other staff members to promote collective growth within the system.
According to him” The international exposure aligns with a series of reforms already undertaken by the Commission in 2025. Within the year, 1,682 staff were promoted, while 163 workshops and seminars were organized to enhance professionalism, accountability and service delivery across the 27 local government areas”
“Established under Law No. 7 of 2007, the Commission is responsible for managing appointments, promotions, training, postings and discipline of unified local government staff on Grade Level 07 and above, in addition to supervising administrative operations in the councils” he said.
