Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has assured leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of a peaceful and successful conduct of the party’s forthcoming congresses.
The Governor stated this while speaking during the APC stakeholders meeting held on Saturday evening in Dutse.
He stressed that, the unity and inclusiveness remain the bedrock of his administration’s political approach.
The gathering brought together elected officials, party executives, and respected elders, providing a platform for reflection and frank discussions on the state of the party.
Governor Namadi said the strong presence and commitment shown by stakeholders at the meeting demonstrated a shared resolve to keep the APC united and focused.
He emphasised that his leadership would continue to promote fairness, justice, and respect for all party members, noting that no individual or group would be sidelined in the party’s affairs.
According to him, peaceful congresses are critical to strengthening the APC’s internal democracy and consolidating its acceptance among the people of Jigawa State.
He urged party leaders to work collectively, avoid actions that could cause division, and place the overall interest of the party above personal ambitions.
While reacting over the ongoing APC membership revalidation exercise, The governor disclosed that Jigawa State currently ranks second nationwide, describing the
achievement as commendable, and urging stakeholders to intensify mobilization efforts to enable the state to secure the top position.
The stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to cooperate with the state leadership to ensure hitch-free congresses and sustain the unity that has continued to define the APC in Jigawa State.
This is coming after the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a comprehensive timetable for its series of party congresses and National Convention as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, disclosed that notices for ward and local government congresses will be issued on February 2, 2026, while the sale and submission of nomination forms will take place between February 4 and 9.
According to the schedule, ward congresses are slated for February 18, followed by local government congresses on February 20. The party will also receive and consider appeals arising from the exercises between February 21 and 22.
While State congresses are fixed for March 7, 2026, while the zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones are scheduled for March 21.
The timetable will culminate in the APC National Convention, expected to hold from March 25 to 28, 2026, marking the final phase of the party’s internal preparations ahead of the 2027 polls.
