No fewer than 22 people reportedly killed following a fresh road accident in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Eyewitnesses told newsmen that the accident occurred on Tuesday at about 2:00 p.m. along the Kwanar Huguna–Dutse Municipal road.
The crash reportedly involved a trailer loaded with sand and two Gulf vehicles conveying passengers to a wedding ceremony.
According to the witnesses, the impact was severe, leading to multiple casualties at the scene.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said preliminary reports indicated that 16 persons lost their lives, while four others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The latest tragedy comes barely two days after 11 people were killed in a lone-car accident in the state.
