The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the commencement of recruitment of 50,000 police constables into the Force, following a directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen community policing and boost internal security.
In a statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, the Commission said the recruitment portal will open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and will close on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
According to the PSC, the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to expand the manpower base of the Police and enhance its operational capacity across the country.
The Commission outlined the requirements for both General Duty and Specialists cadres.
It said, Applicants for the General Duty category must possess a minimum of five credits in GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent, including Mathematics and English Language, obtained in not more than two sittings.
While for the Specialists cadre, candidates must have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings, alongside a minimum of three years’ relevant experience and applicable Trade Test certificates.
It noted that, Eligible applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth. The age limit is 18 to 25 years for General Duty applicants and 18 to 28 years for Specialists. Candidates must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit.
And theHeight requirements apply only to General Duty applicants, with males expected to be at least 1.67m tall and females 1.64m.
The PSC emphasized that all applications must be submitted online through the official portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, which will be activated on December 15.
The Commission reiterated that the entire recruitment process is free, cautioning applicants against fraudsters. It assured that the exercise will be transparent, credible and strictly merit-based.
“Application is free as there will be no payment required at any stage of the process, and applicants are warned to be wary of fraudsters,” the statement added.
The statement said, Further details, including comprehensive guidelines and requirements, will be available on the recruitment portal as well as the official websites and social media platforms of the PSC and the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commission urged qualified Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the nation.
