The Jigawa State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (JSPCACC) has called on residents to support the agency with credible information as part of ongoing efforts to build a corruption-free society.
Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Salisu Abdu, made the appeal while addressing journalists during the commemoration of the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day held at the Commission’s headquarters in Dutse.
Abdu disclosed that the Commission has received a total of 479 complaints since its establishment in 2023. Out of these, 110 were corruption and financial crime-related cases, including breach of trust, cheating, fraud, and issues bordering on the recovery of funds and properties.
He revealed that the Commission has successfully recovered ₦385,494,602.33 for government institutions, private individuals, and corporate organisations.
According to him, the agency also handled 115 complaints specifically related to funds recovery and asset retrieval, including landed properties. Additionally, the Commission has filed and prosecuted 20 cases before Magistrate Courts and the State High Court.
Abdu noted that several senior government officials and contractors have been arrested or invited for questioning over various offences, stressing that “no one is above the law, irrespective of rank or position.”
He emphasized the need for collective responsibility in the fight against corruption, saying:
“The fight against corruption requires every pillar of the state and society to function optimally. We appeal for swift and continuous hearing of corruption cases. Justice delayed poses a major risk to asset recovery and erodes public confidence. We pledge to present only meticulously investigated, court-ready case files to minimize procedural delays.”
He urged citizens to act as watchdogs of democracy by reporting wrongdoing through the Commission’s dedicated channels.
“Do not pay bribes and do not accept them. Utilize our Whistleblower Protection Policy (WPP) and report corruption with confidence. Your identity will be protected,” he assured.
The Chairman reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and strengthening public trust.
