The Jigawa State police Command has warned farmers and herdsmen against any form of violence, lawlessness, or reprisal attacks.
State commissioner of police CP. Dahiru Muhammad made the warning during meeting with critical stakeholders from Gishinawo and Abangawa villages in Kirikasamma Local Government Area, following the recent clash between farmers and herders in the affected communities.
It was reported that, a reprisal attack from two Waring parties has left many injured and properties burnt.
He said, the meeting is aimed at fostering understanding, preventing escalation, and ensuring lasting harmony between the two groups.
The Commissioner expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident, emphasizing that peace and security remain the collective responsibility of all.
He urged both farmers and herders to continue engaging in dialogue and mutual respect, noting that peaceful coexistence is essential for socio-economic development.
According to him ” we would not tolerate any act of violence, lawlessness, or reprisal attacks, stressing that anyone found wanting would face the full weight of the law”
He assured the communities that the Police Command has taken immediate measures to prevent a recurrence and to ensure that justice and fairness prevail.
During the meeting , stakeholders unanimously expressed their commitment to peace and agreed to strengthen local conflict resolution mechanisms.
