Tenure of Education Secretaries Subject to One-Year Performance Review — Jigawa Govt

The Jigawa State Government said the tenure of twenty seven selected Education Secretaries is Subject to One-Year Performance Review with underperforming officers to be replaced.

Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB Prof Haruna Musa disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of final section exercise.

He explained that the appointments followed a rigorous, multi-stage process designed to ensure competence and professionalism

According to him, about 1,156 candidate applied for the position after which 274 were selected, and 159 were also selected after writing computer based test”

” while 88 candidate passed and were invited for final interview and 27 were selected “

The successful education secretaries including,

  1. Auyo – Zakar Tukur
  2. Babura – Murtala Isah
  3. Birnin Kudu – Jummai Bala
  4. Birniwa – Shafiu Abdullahi
  5. Buji – Yakubu Habibu
  6. Dutse – Muhd Maiunguwa
  7. Gagarawa – Ali Saje
  8. Garki – Ahmad Wada
  9. Gumel – Jamila Ayuba
  10. Guri – Usman Muhd
  11. Gwaram – Ahmad Ishaq
  12. Gwiwa – Rabilu Yusuf
  13. Hadejia – Haruna Idris
  14. Jahun – Saleh Muhd
  15. Kafin Hausa – Haruna Hudu
  16. Kaugama – Aliyu Shafiu
  17. Kazaure – Ibrahim Mukhtar
  18. Kiri Kasamma – Saleh Aliyu
  19. Kiyawa – Faruk Kiyawa

Prof. Haruna noted that, their appointment is performance based after which they will be reassess after one year and those who underperformed will be replaced.

He said the new strategy of appointment of education secretaries is out of the desire of Governor Umar Namadi to bring changes in education sector especially at basic level.

“education secretaries are strong pillars in the sector, therefore if you have someone who is competent definitely we will see the changes we are looking for”

He urged the successful applicants to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring effective school monitoring and the timely reporting of accurate data to support informed decision-making.
