The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has been declared winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The announcement was made on Sunday at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Awka by the Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie.
According to the official results, Soludo secured a decisive victory with 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.
Omoregie disclosed that a total of 16 candidates contested the election. The state had 2,788,864 registered voters, out of which 598,229 were accredited. The total number of votes cast stood at 595,298, with 11,244 votes rejected and 584,054 deemed valid.
The Returning Officer noted that although there were isolated incidents in a few wards across Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South—affecting 10,481 votes—the margin of victory was large enough that these cancellations did not impact the final outcome.
“The election was peaceful,” Omoregie said. “Having scored the highest number of valid votes and satisfied all legal requirements, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance is hereby declared winner and returned elected.”
Soludo’s victory was comprehensive, as he won in all 21 local government areas of the state.
