Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has called on residents to be their brothers’ keepers and extend kindness to one another, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The governor made the call on Monday at the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of food items and cash to civil servants. The event was held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Dutse.
Describing Ramadan as a month of compassion, sacrifice and generosity, Namadi said the welfare intervention underscores his administration’s unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of civil servants and their families.
“It became necessary to provide these essential items during this period to ensure that our dedicated workforce and their families are supported,” the governor said.
He urged residents to imbibe the virtues of kindness, unity and generosity as taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad, stressing that even simple acts of goodwill could strengthen social bonds and promote solidarity within communities.
Namadi explained that the Ministry of Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Civil Service, would oversee the distribution process to ensure seamless delivery of the items to workers across ministries, departments and agencies.
The State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara, assured that the distribution exercise would be carried out fairly and transparently.
He noted that the initial phase of the palliative distribution would cover 602 Government House staff, with plans to extend the gesture to all categories of civil servants across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the State Head of Service, Muhammad K. Dagaceri, commended the governor for the initiative.
He urged recipients to make judicious use of the support and encouraged them to replicate the gesture by showing kindness to others during the Ramadan season.
