The Jigawa State Police Command has issued a warning to motorists travelling along the Gwaram–Basirka road to exercise extreme caution following the collapse of the Bagadaza Bridge due to heavy rainfall.

The command’s spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued to STANDARD TRUST NEWS on Thursday evening.

According to him, “Drivers plying Gwaram–Basirka–Darazau route should drive carefully as the Bagadaza Bridge has collapsed.”

He said the police have already deployed personnel to guide travellers on alternative routes, urging motorists to cooperate with security agencies and drive cautiously to avoid accidents.

SP Shiisu reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens.

The collapsed bridge, located along a major highway, links communities in Kano and Jigawa States with parts of the North-East.

STANDARD TRUST NEWS recalls that last year, 21 people lost their lives in a bridge collapse in Gwaram Local Government Area.
