Police Arrest Three Over Rival Clash in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects over violent clash between rival thug groups in Kano metropolis.

This was contained in a statement signed by the command spokesman CSP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa issued newsmen on Thursday.

He said, the incident which occurred at Kabara and Magashi quarter left one person dead and two others injured.

According to the statement “the incident occurred on Wednesday, at about 10:53 p.m., when rival groups allegedly led by Usaini Noni of Kabara Quarters and Umar Tautau of Magashi Quarters engaged in a fight that threw residents of the area into panic”

“the clash resulted in the death of one Adam Badamasi, also known as “Choli,” while two others Ahmed Basiru and Akilu Usman sustained various degrees of injuries”

He said that, upon receiving the report, combined teams of police officers swiftly mobilised to the scene, where they met a rowdy situation involving suspected thugs and members of vigilante groups.

Kiyawa said, the area was immediately cordoned off, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Bazallahi Umar, 20; Abdullahi Umar, 20; and Abubakar Sani, 23.

He said , the injured victims were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where one of them was confirmed dead by medical personnel. Police patrols were sustained in the affected areas to prevent further breakdown of law and order, after which normalcy was restored.

Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending all those involved and bringing them to justice.

The police command reassured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
