The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested a fake soldier and two other suspected car thieves in Jigawa State.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday at about 07:50 hours by operatives attached to the Kafin Hausa Division. Their arrest followed a lone accident involving a stolen vehicle at Sabon Sara village, Kafin Hausa Local Government Area.
SP Shiisu stated that the suspects initially fled the scene of the accident but were quickly apprehended by the vigilant officers.
Prior to their arrest, the police had received a report from one Hussaini Manager, who stated that on September 7, 2025, at about 20:00 hours, unknown persons stole his blue Golf saloon car with registration number MGA 108 JG from Agura Motor Park in Kafin Hausa LGA.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects had been impersonating a military officer, identifying himself as Lance Corporal Kabiru Musa of the 102 Guard Brigade, FCT Abuja. He was identified as a resident of Rimin Kebe Quarters in Kano State.
In addition to the stolen car, police recovered seven different ATM cards, two driver’s licenses, and other items linked to fraudulent activities from the suspects.
Following a discreet investigation, the suspects have been formally charged to court.
The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the operatives of the Kafin Hausa Division for their professionalism and dedication, which led to the successful arrest.
He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of lives and property.
The CP urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to help prevent and detect crimes across the state.
