The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested fourteen notorious drug dealers who have allegedly been supplying illicit substances across various parts of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued to newsmen, noting that the operation was part of the Command’s sustained efforts to rid the state of illicit drugs and related criminal activities.
According to him, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Jigawa State Command, successfully apprehended the suspects in coordinated raids conducted across Dutse, Guri, Babura, Kanya Babba, Bulangu, and Yankwashi Divisions.
He said the operation followed credible intelligence reports, which led to the recovery of a total of 8,271 pieces of assorted illicit drugs, including Exol, D5, Tramadol, Diazepam, rubber solution, “suck and die,” and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
SP Shiisu further disclosed that the police also recovered ₦235,225.00 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the sale of illicit drugs. The money has been registered as a monetary exhibit.
He added that investigations are ongoing to uncover the suspects’ supply network and identify other accomplices involved in the illegal drug trade within and outside the state.
The Command urged members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information about suspicious activities in their communities.
SP Shiisu assured that the suspects will be charged in court upon the completion of investigations.
