The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, has announced plans to host its maiden Ramadan lecture scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The lecture, titled “Jawabi daga Malamai,” will commence at 10:00 a.m. at the NUJ Secretariat in Dutse, Jigawa State.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Secretary of the Council, Comrade Aminu Umar Shuwajo, the lecture will be delivered by Associate Professor Abubakar Sani Birnin Kudu.
He is expected to speak on the topic, “The Dangers of Fake News and the Positive Role of Journalism from an Islamic Perspective.”
The event aims to address the growing concerns over misinformation and highlight the ethical responsibilities of journalists, particularly within the framework of Islamic teachings.
The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, will serve as Chairman of the occasion.
The NUJ called on members of the public to attend the lecture, describing it as an important forum for reflection on responsible journalism and societal development.
