The Jigawa State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), CC Bala Bawa, has described his posting to the state as a privilege and a call to serve, declaring that he has no regrets since assuming office.
Bawa made this known during a ceremony to mark his 100 days in office, held at the command headquarters in Dutse. He described Jigawa as one of the most peaceful states in the country despite facing security challenges such as farmers-herders clashes, vandalism, theft, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
According to him, his deployment has given him an opportunity to contribute to the peace, unity, and socio-economic stability of the state.
He noted that within the short period, several initiatives have been introduced to enhance security and boost public confidence.
“Within these days, we have recorded remarkable achievements, including the beautification and painting of the state command, multiple arrests of high-profile suspects with recovery of stolen items, protection of critical infrastructure, crackdown on crimes, strengthening of interagency collaboration, as well as securing churches and mosques during worship,” he stated.
The commandant commended the Jigawa State Government, traditional institutions, sister security agencies, and the media for their support and synergy in safeguarding lives and property.
He further appealed to residents to continue providing useful information that would help in preventing crime and criminality.
Representing Governor Umar Namadi at the event, the Special Adviser on Security, Usman Muhammad Jahun, lauded Bawa for his giant strides within his first 100 days in office.
He assured the NSCDC command of the state government’s sustained support in promoting peace and security.
