The Nigerian Army has dismissed as false a recruitment advertisement circulating on social media and other online platforms claiming that applications are open for the Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 for 2026.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Anele Appolonia, the Army clarified that no recruitment or commissioning exercise has been approved or commenced for either the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or the Short Service Commission (SSC).

Colonel Appolonia explained that the purported recruitment notice did not originate from the Nigerian Army or any of its authorised communication channels, urging members of the public to disregard the advertisement in its entirety.

She stressed that whenever recruitment exercises are approved, the public will be officially informed through verified platforms, including the Nigerian Army’s official website, its authenticated social media handles, national newspapers, and other credible outlets.

The Army further warned Nigerians to remain vigilant against fraudsters who use fake recruitment notices to deceive and defraud unsuspecting individuals, noting that the Nigerian Army does not charge any fee for enlistment or commissioning.

Members of the public with information on such fraudulent activities were advised to report to the nearest security agency or appropriate authorities for prompt action.
