Former Jigawa State Governor and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Sule Lamido, has dismissed as false and misleading reports claiming he has withdrawn his court case against the party.
Lamido, in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, debunked the circulating report alleging that he directed his lawyers to discontinue the suit following a meeting with Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The viral report had quoted him as saying he agreed to withdraw the case after receiving assurances that all stakeholders would be carried along in the party’s processes, and that he had given his full support for the forthcoming national convention.
However, Lamido firmly disassociated himself from the statement, describing it as fake news. He said he had been inundated with calls from PDP members across the country seeking clarification on the matter.
According to him, a Federal High Court ruling delivered around 2:30 p.m. on Friday affirmed his right to contest the PDP national chairmanship a right he alleged was previously denied.
He further explained that the court issued an order stopping the planned Ibadan PDP Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, pending full compliance with the judgment. The court also barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from supervising or observing the convention.
Lamido added that certified copies of the court order had already been served on both INEC and the PDP.
He urged party members and the general public to disregard the fabricated statement in its entirety.
