Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the immediate reconstruction of the ’Yanshana Bridge in Kumbotso Local Government Area, which collapsed three days ago.
The governor made the announcement at the Government House following a peaceful protest by residents of ’Yanshana, who appealed for urgent government intervention to ease the hardship caused by the bridge’s collapse.
Governor Yusuf assured the protesters that the State Executive Council, at its Wednesday meeting, would grant formal approval for the project, noting that the collapsed bridge had severely disrupted daily activities in the area.
In a broader move to address community needs, the governor also directed the speedy completion of an abandoned secondary school project in ’Yanshana.
Additionally, he instructed the Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government to allocate land for a new cemetery to serve residents of the community.
