Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately remove the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, accusing him of undermining his authority as the Chief Security Officer of the state.

Governor Yusuf made the call on Tuesday during an event marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary at Kofar Mata Stadium, Kano.

The governor expressed displeasure over the commissioner’s alleged refusal to comply with his directives, saying police officers under Bakori’s command deliberately withdrew security from the ceremony despite clear instructions he personally issued.

“The Commissioner of Police has embarrassed us by his conduct. His action is unprofessional, unethical, and contrary to what is expected of a security chief on such a historic day for the people of Kano and indeed Nigeria,” Yusuf said.

He insisted that CP Bakori’s continued stay in Kano was no longer tenable, stressing that the situation posed a serious threat to the effective coordination of security in the state.

“On behalf of myself, as Chief Security Officer of Kano State, and on behalf of the good people of Kano, I call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori today,” the governor declared.
