A political pressure group in the North-West, Bring Back Our Goodluck (BBOG), has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election, describing him as the most capable leader to rescue Nigeria from its current economic challenges.
The appeal was made on Sunday in Kano during a press conference addressed by the group’s National Coordinator, Dr. Grema Kyari.
Kyari said Nigerians were “misled in 2015” into voting out Jonathan, arguing that the present administration had failed to deliver on its promises.
He recalled that Jonathan’s administration ensured economic stability, affordable food and fuel prices, and implemented youth empowerment initiatives such as YouWin, SURE-P, and the Agricultural Transformation Agenda.
According to him, Jonathan’s global reputation as a peace mediator, coupled with his decision to concede defeat in 2015, proved that he valued the unity of Nigeria above personal ambition.
The group also appealed to leading opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Mr. Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rauf Aregbesola, to unite and support Jonathan’s return bid in 2027.
“We must shelve personal interests and place the survival of Nigerians above everything else,” Kyari said.
He urged Nigerians, particularly from the North-West, to rally behind the movement, declaring:
“Let us bring back Goodluck, bring back prosperity, and rescue Nigeria in 2027.”
