The Senior Special Assistant on Health Monitoring to the Jigawa State Government, Zakari Sidi Kafin Hausa, has officially resigned from his position.
In a resignation letter dated August 11, 2025, and addressed to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Zakari stated that his decision was prompted by “current political developments in the state” and his intention to pursue opportunities in the private sector.
Zakari, known for publicly sharing governance-related facts and figures, has reportedly clashed with some cabinet members, including Governor Umar Namadi, over his outspoken stance on major flashpoint was the controversial Fadama III scandal, which implicated several senior government officials.
According to Zakari, although the Governor set up a committee to investigate the matter, its report misrepresented the facts, thereby “effectively burying the issue.”
He referenced a 19-page document released by the Fadama Coordinating Office (Result Area 2) on August 13, 2023, which detailed how contracts worth ₦678 million were awarded in the first quarter of the J-CARES implementation.
Zakari claimed the committee failed to present the report’s contents accurately to Governor Namadi.Zakari said he personally briefed the Governor on the true details, leaving him “visibly shocked,” but no action followed.
He also advised the Governor to reconnect with politicians who played key roles in his 2023 election victory but were later sidelined — advice he said was ignored.Frustrated, Zakari took to social media to urge the Governor to act, drawing backlash from loyal supporters who accused him of undermining the administration.
In response, APC stakeholders reportedly warned the Governor’s social media aides against engaging with critics of the Namadi administration, threatening sanctions for non-compliance.
Amid mounting calls for his dismissal, Governor Namadi is said to have resisted pressure to sack Zakari, arguing that removing him would not resolve the issues.
Some political actors have accused Zakari of aligning with former Governor Badaru Abubakar in the state’s ongoing power tussle, an allegation he has strongly denied.
