The Jigawa State Public Complaints Commission (PCC) has called for stronger collaboration with the State Police Command in the discharge of its responsibilities.
This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police Command and made available to STANDARD TRUST NEWS.
According to the statement, the State Commissioner of the PCC, Hon. Barde Usman Shehu, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Police Headquarters in Dutse.
He explained that the Commission is mandated to address grievances between the public and government agencies, promote fairness, and safeguard citizens’ rights.
“The PCC plays a non-judicial role by investigating complaints, mediating disputes, and making recommendations for amicable resolution. It is neither a court of law nor a law enforcement agency, but an institution designed to promote accountability, justice, and good governance,” he said.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the PCC Commissioner for the visit and for clarifying the roles and operations of the Commission.
He assured of the Police Command’s readiness to work closely with the PCC in the interest of peace, justice, and public confidence in governance.
