The Jigawa State Government has approved a contract worth ₦1,999,983,750.00 for the procurement of 1,185 motorcycles to enhance agricultural extension services across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmad, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the recent State Executive Council meeting.

According to him, the initiative is part of the administration’s strategy to empower field officers and strengthen agricultural service delivery in the state.

“The Council approved the procurement of 1,185 units of the Hunter-100 model motorcycles for deployment to J-Agro Extension Workers who serve as frontline agricultural service providers across the 27 Local Government Areas,” Hon. Ahmad stated.

He added that the move demonstrates the government’s commitment to revitalizing the agricultural sector through enhanced extension services and increased farmer outreach.

“The motorcycles will improve mobility, ensure timely dissemination of information, and enhance support for farmers. This is expected to boost productivity, strengthen agricultural value chains, and contribute to food security and economic development across the state,” he said.

The state government continues to prioritize agriculture as a key driver of economic growth and rural development
