The Jigawa State Commissioner for Humanitarian and Special Duties, Hon. Auwal Sankara, has disbursed ₦50 million in cash to over 250 youths and women from his constituency.
The empowerment programme was launched during Governor Umar Namadi’s visit to Ringim Local Government as part of the state’s Government and Public Engagement (Gwamnatin Da Jama’a) initiative.
Hon. Sankara, who hails from Ringim, said the personal initiative was aimed at complementing Governor Namadi’s efforts in youth employment, job creation, and poverty alleviation.
According to him, each beneficiary received ₦250,000 to either start a business or expand an existing one. He pledged continued support for the governor’s 12-point agenda for prosperity and development in Jigawa State.
Governor Namadi commended the commissioner, noting that the initiative aligns with his administration’s focus on empowerment, job creation, and poverty eradication.
He stressed that tackling poverty is key to accelerating economic growth and employment, and called on elected officials, political leaders, and wealthy individuals to support empowerment initiatives that create jobs and promote development
