The Jigawa State Government has fulfilled its promise under the Danmodi Students’ Care scheme by awarding scholarships and providing special support to outstanding students in the state.

Among the beneficiaries is Hajara Ahmad from Hadejia, the winner of the 2025 BBC Hikayata competition, who has been offered a postgraduate scholarship at Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa. The scholarship covers tuition fees and other essential academic requirements until the completion of her studies.

Another beneficiary, Maryam Hamisu from Babura, a special needs student of the Federal University of Technology, Babura, is also among the 400 students sponsored under the scheme.

It could be recall that  Governor Umar A. Namadi,  promised  scholarship and brand-new electric vehicle worth ₦2.5 million to Maryam Hamisu a student with special needs to ease her movement to school.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the Government House in Dutse, Governor Namadi reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a supportive learning environment for all students across the state.

He said the Danmodi Students’ Care scheme was designed to break barriers to education and encourage excellence among Jigawa youths.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Amb. Muhammad Salisu Seeker, described the gesture as “a noble and historic act of kindness,” adding that it reflects the government’s determination to invest in human capital development.

The initiative, he said, is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to ensuring that no student in Jigawa is left behind due to financial or physical challenges.
