A philanthropist and community leader, Captain Aliyu Muhammad Gadama, has distributed Ramadan relief packages to orphans, the less privileged and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the eleven wards of Gwaram Local Government Area in Jigawa State.
The distribution exercise took place in Gadama town during the ongoing Ramadan, reflecting the spirit of charity and compassion associated with the holy month.
Speaking during the event, Gadama said the gesture was aimed at supporting vulnerable members of the community, strengthening unity, and assisting grassroots stakeholders who contribute to the development of society.
The relief items included cash assistance as well as wrappers made from Shadda and Atamfa materials.
The packages were carefully distributed across the eleven wards of the local government to ensure fairness, transparency and effective reach to the intended beneficiaries.
A total of 1,000 people benefited from the intervention, with each beneficiary receiving ₦10,000 as part of a Sallah support package.
The initiative, according to observers, highlights Gadama’s commitment to social responsibility and grassroots development, particularly in rural communities where economic challenges are more pronounced.
The distribution was coordinated by the Special Assistant to the Governor of Umar Namadi on Basic Education, Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi Harbo, alongside Ambassador Hauwa Jidda and other members of the organising team, who supervised the exercise to ensure transparency and smooth execution.
At the end of the event, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Jigawa State, Aisha Iliyasu Surko, was presented with a Lesser Hajj (Umrah) package by Gadama in appreciation of her role during the distribution exercise.
Dignitaries at the occasion included the Chairman of Gwaram Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdulkarim Musa Fagam; the APC Chairman of Dutse Zone, Alhaji Yahaya Ahali Sakwaya; councillors, traditional rulers, party supporters and other well-wishers who witnessed the humanitarian gesture.
