The Federal Government has disbursed a total of N2.45 trillion to state governments and the Federal Capital Territory to support infrastructure projects and enhance security operations across the country.
Official records from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) indicate that the funds were released between March 2024 and August 2025, spanning a period of 17 months.
The intervention was designed to strengthen infrastructure development and boost security efforts at the subnational level, in response to growing security challenges and persistent infrastructure deficits nationwide.
Details of the disbursement were contained in internal OAGF documents presented at the December 2025 meeting of the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) and obtained on Friday.
According to the records, the funds were released under a special intervention programme financed through non-oil revenue savings, with the aim of easing financial pressure on state governments and fast-tracking project implementation at the grassroots.
A document titled “Ledger of Savings on Intervention to States Infrastructure and Security” showed that the cumulative disbursement within the period stood at N2.45tn. However, the document did not provide a breakdown of allocations to individual states nor clarify whether the funds were disbursed outside the regular monthly statutory allocations.
