Daily Trust has deleted an earlier report claiming that former Jigawa State Governor and current Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, lost in his polling unit during the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election.
Contrary to the earlier publication, results obtained by STANDARD TRUST NEWS confirmed that Mr. Badaru secured victory at his polling unit, Kofar Arewa. The All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 188 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 164 votes.
The Defence Minister, who cast his vote at the Kofar Arewa polling unit, was received by a large turnout of enthusiastic supporters who cheered him on arrival and after the announcement of the results.
The Garki/Babura by-election witnessed massive voter participation across polling units, with electoral officials and security agencies ensuring a peaceful and orderly process.
