The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed the defection of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.
The announcement was made by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, during the party’s 14th National Caucus meeting in Abuja. With the move, all states in the North Central zone are now governed by the APC.
The governor’s political adviser said the defection was prompted by internal crises within the PDP, describing the APC as a safer and more stable political platform.
Supporters of the governor said aligning with the APC would strengthen Plateau State’s relationship with the Federal Government and improve access to federal projects and interventions.
The defection follows growing pressure from PDP stakeholders in the state, who argued that joining the ruling party would enhance security cooperation and accelerate development in Plateau State.
