Stakeholders in Jigawa State have expressed deep concern over the poor condition of some Federal Government roads in the state, which they say have been abandoned without completion.
They raised the issue during a sensitisation campaign on the Tinubu administration’s mid-term report, organised by the Federal Ministry of Information, held at the Federal Secretariat, Dutse.
Among the affected roads are the Kwanar Dumawa–Babura and Gaya–Jahun–Kafin Hausa roads, which, according to the stakeholders, have become death traps, causing frequent accidents that have claimed lives and destroyed properties of innocent citizens.
They explained that the Federal Government re-awarded the contracts for the construction of these roads in 2020, yet the projects remain incomplete, leaving motorists and communities stranded.
Responding, the Head of the Federal Information Centre, Dutse, Bashir D. Galadanchi, said the sensitisation campaign aimed to highlight the achievements recorded under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and gather citizens’ feedback on their needs and expectations from the Federal Government.
“The event provides an opportunity for citizens to channel their demands to the Federal Government,” Galadanchi said, assuring that all complaints and requests would be compiled and forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation for necessary action.
Earlier, guest speaker Mr. Mubarak Adamu Cisse, in a paper titled “The Northwest Milestone,” outlined some of the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, within just two years, the country has witnessed significant progress, including the establishment of five regional development commissions, a presidential loan and grant scheme, a student loan scheme, several road projects, the approval of a ₦70,000 minimum wage, and the elimination of over 13,000 terrorists, among others.
Mr. Cisse added that the administration has also demonstrated strong commitment to improving farmers’ livelihoods and boosting agricultural productivity across the nation.
