Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has flagged off the construction of a ₦2.866 billion feeder road linking Andaza, Dahuwa, Katanga, and Baranda communities in Kiyawa Local Government Area.
The 17.5-kilometre road, awarded to Radok Construction Nigeria Limited, is expected to be completed within 12 months. It is designed to boost the transportation of farm produce, improve access to healthcare and education, and strengthen social and economic ties among rural communities.
The governor launched the project under his Citizens’ Engagement Programme, Gwamnati Da Jama’a, where ministries also presented scorecards of their projects in Kiyawa, while community leaders submitted a compendium of priority needs for government consideration.
Earlier, Namadi inspected and commissioned a renovated student hostel at a local secondary school and paid an unscheduled visit to Kiyawa General Hospital. He pledged immediate renovation of the hospital to restore standards and ensure effective healthcare delivery.
The event drew a massive turnout as residents lined the streets from Shuwarin Bridge to Kiyawa town to welcome the governor. In appreciation, the community presented symbolic gifts, including kola nuts, dates, fish, and a bull, representing their culture and livelihoods.
Governor Namadi described the warm reception as a vote of confidence in his administration and the All Progressives Congress, assuring that his government remains committed to expanding road networks, improving infrastructure, and enhancing social services across Jigawa State.
