One person has been confirmed dead and seven others injured following the collapse of a building in Kirikasamma Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The Council Chairman, Muhammad Maji Wakili Marma, who confirmed the incident, said it occurred at Kanak village after two nights of heavy rainfall.
According to him, five of the victims are still receiving treatment at the hospital, while two have been discharged.
Marma warned that more houses in the area could collapse if urgent measures are not taken to reinforce weak structures.
He appealed to the government and humanitarian agencies to support the victims and intensify efforts to safeguard communities from flooding and other climate-related disasters
