Teachers across Jigawa State have been directed to ensure the immediate commencement of academic activities as public and private schools prepare to reopen for the 2025/2026 first term academic session.

The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Professor Isa Yusuf Chamo, in a statement signed by the Ministry’s public Relations Officer Wasulu Umar issued to STANDARD TRUST NEWS on Friday.

According to him, boarding students are expected to resume on Sunday, September 7, while day students are to return to school on Monday, September 8.

Professor Chamo emphasized that teachers must be at their duty posts from the first day of resumption to begin normal lessons without delay. He disclosed that the ministry has deployed monitoring teams to schools across the state to ensure compliance.

He further noted that the state government has provided the necessary teaching materials and learning aids to support effective classroom delivery this term.

“We are appealing to teachers to take their responsibilities seriously and begin lessons immediately. The ministry has made all arrangements for a smooth take-off of the academic session,” the commissioner stated.

He also called on parents and guardians to release their wards to return to school promptly, stressing that early resumption would allow for full coverage of the school calendar.

He said that preparations had been concluded to ensure both students and teachers settle down for academic activities as soon as schools reopen.
