The Chairman of Geregu Power Plc, Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari (Marafan Sokoto), has said Nigerians deserve improved electricity supply, urging stakeholders in the power sector to support efforts aimed at increasing generation and ensuring sustainable power delivery.
Yari said all stakeholders must do everything possible to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the power sector and contribute to the transformation of the nation’s electricity industry.
He made the remarks in a statement issued by the company, where he reaffirmed Geregu Power Plc’s commitment to supporting Federal Government initiatives aimed at improving electricity generation and supply.
“As a stakeholder and a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I deem it incumbent on us all to do everything humanly possible for the Renewed Hope Agenda to succeed,” Yari said.
He commended President Tinubu for the support being provided to the power sector, stressing that Geregu Power would continue to back initiatives designed to strengthen Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity.
The chairman said the company remained committed to sustainable and efficient power generation, noting that improved electricity supply was essential to national development and industrialisation.
Yari also assured bondholders, trustees, shareholders and other stakeholders that Geregu Power would honour its outstanding bond obligations.
He disclosed that the Board was engaging the former management and Board of the company over outstanding legacy matters, assuring stakeholders that the issues would be resolved.
“We continue to engage the former Management and Board of Geregu Power Plc regarding outstanding legacy matters,” he said.
“I want to assure all stakeholders that this obligation will be resolved, and we are taking all necessary steps to protect the interests of our shareholders and bondholders.”
Yari further assured stakeholders that the Board remained committed to preserving shareholder value and maintaining the highest standards of corporate responsibility.
He said Geregu Power would continue to support efforts to sustain and improve electricity generation for the benefit of Nigerians.
