The management of Federal University Dutse has approved the promotion of 21 lecturers to the rank of Professor and 27 others to the position of Reader as part of efforts to strengthen academic excellence and research development in the institution.
The promotions were approved by the university’s 4th Governing Council during its 8th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Abdullahi Yahaya Bello, the council said it considered and approved the recommendations of the Appointments and Promotions Committee (Academic).
According to the statement, all the promotions take effect from October 1, 2025.
Those elevated to the rank of Professor include Dr Umar Mukhtar, Dr Aliyu Abdurrahaman and Dr Gama Emmanuel Nkwi from Agricultural Economics, as well as Dr Bashir Garba Muktar and Dr Ado Garba from Agricultural Extension.
Others are Dr Danmaigoro Olarenwaju (Agronomy), Dr Ibrahim Sanusi Chinade (Literature in English), Dr Nasiruddeen Ibrahim Ahmad (Arabic Linguistics), Dr Philip N. Ndubueze (Sociology/Criminology and Security Studies), and Dr Lamidi Kamal Olaniyi (Political Science).
Also promoted to professorial rank are Dr Zahraddeen Sufyan (Computer Science), Dr Sulaiman Muhammad Inuwa and Dr Balogun Joshua Babalola (Biology), Dr Shiaka Gimba Peter (Microbiology), Dr Muhammad Isa Auyo (Botany), Dr Aminu Ma’aruf Nass (Applied Mathematics), and Dr Babangida Ibrahim Babura (Statistics).
The list further includes Dr Shina Isma’il Sadiq (Chemistry), Dr Hajara Momoh (Organic Chemistry), Dr Tasi’u Zangina (Physics/Material Science), and Dr Hafeez Yusuf Hafeez (Physics/Solid State).
The statement added that the 27 lecturers promoted to the rank of Reader were drawn from various departments including Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Animal Science, Crop Science, Forestry and Wildlife Management, Soil Science, Economics and Development Studies, English and Linguistics,
Political Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
The university management described the promotions as a reflection of its commitment to quality teaching, research advancement and academic excellence.
