The only female aspirant contesting for the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Firdausi Sunusi Umar, has withdrawn from the race and declared support for the party’s consensus candidate, Yusha’u Muhammad.

Barrister Firdausi was among the eleven aspirants seeking the APC ticket for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While nine other aspirants had earlier stepped down for Yusha’u Muhammad, Barrister Firdausi initially remained in the contest before announcing her withdrawal hours to the party’s primary election.

She made the announcement during a courtesy visit to Governor Malam Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.

In a withdrawal letter addressed to the APC National Chairman and received by the party’s State Legal Adviser, Barrister Baffa Alhassan, Firdausi said her decision was taken in the overall interest of unity, stability, and progress of the party.

She explained that the move followed consultations with party elders and stakeholders and was in line with the provisions of Section 87(1) of the Electoral Act 2026.

“I resolved to align myself with the consensus candidate of our great party, APC,” she stated.

“I therefore wholeheartedly endorse Yusha’u Muhammad as the APC candidate for the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency,” she added
