The civil servants in Jigawa State have urged state government to consider the payment of a Ramadan bonus to ease economic hardship and improve their welfare.
Some of the workers disclosed this while commenting on their preparation for the coming Ramadan s expected commencement of Ramadan on Wednesday , amid rising cost of food items and other essentials.
The civil servants noted that looking at the prevailing economic challenges and inflation , a Ramadan bonus would go a long way in supporting families during the fasting period.
They noted that, such gesture would not only cushion the effects of inflation but also boost morale within the state workforce.
According to them, “Governor Umar Namadi has consistently demonstrated commitment to the welfare of workers through prompt payment of salaries and other interventions”
“We are sure, the Governor will look into the situation and do something that will put smile on the face of families”
Malam Idris a senior civil servant in the state ministry, said, “Looking at the current situation and the governor’s good heart towards workers, we are hopeful he may consider a Ramadan bonus just like some of his counterparts in other states.”
Also Hadi a Junior worker described the governor as “worker-friendly,” adding that any additional support during Ramadan would further strengthen the cordial relationship between the government and civil servants”
Although there is no official statement from the state government regarding the payment of any Ramadan bonus, many workers remain hopeful that such consideration may be announced in the coming days.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a period of fasting, prayer and charity.
This Year ‘s Ramadan is expected to commence on Wednesday or Thursday as announced by His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto.
