Police arrests three suspects over fake alert in Kano

Kano State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with buying a ₦75m Mercedes Benz with fake alert in Abuja.

Spokesman of the Command CSP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to newsmen.

He said, the arrest is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on sustained intelligence-led policing and round the clock visibility patrol, following a tip-off, the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) under the direction of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

The arrested suspects including, Ibrahim Tijjani, Jamilu Auwal, and Mohammed Nura Dauda, for allegedly buying a Mercedes Benz GLE motor vehicle, white in colour with a fake alert.

They were arrested on January 28, 2026, at Kabuga Quarters, Kano while trying to escape.

According to him “The suspects allegedly bought the vehicle from Gwarinpa, Abuja, for seventy-five million naira (₦75,000,000) using a fake alert sent by Ibrahim Yahaya, who’s at large”

The vehicle was recovered and handed over to FCT Police Command for further investigation.

The Commissioner commended the Police team for their dedication and professionalism.

The CP however reassure the public of their commitment to protecting lives and property and urge residents to provide timely information to security agencies.
