The Katsina State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Malik Anas, has presented a detailed breakdown of the ₦897.8 billion 2026 budget proposal recently submitted to the State House of Assembly by Governor Dikko Umar Radda.

Tagged “Building Your Future III,” the 2026 budget underscores the Radda administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal, human capital development, and economic empowerment across the state.

Addressing journalists during a press briefing on Tuesday at the Press Centre, Government House, Katsina, Alhaji Anas explained that the proposed budget allocates ₦730.1 billion for capital expenditure—representing 81.32 percent of the total—while ₦167.7 billion is set aside for recurrent expenditure, accounting for 18.68 percent.

According to the commissioner, six key sectors account for about 60 percent of the total allocation. These include: Education ₦156.3 billion, Works and Housing ₦117.1 billion, Agriculture  ₦78.6 billion, Water Resources – ₦67.5 billion, Health  ₦62.8 billion, Environment  ₦53.8 billion.

Anas emphasized that the budget was developed through an inclusive and participatory process, incorporating the views of 71,384 citizens during town hall meetings and 6,649 households across the 361 political wards in the 34 local government areas of the state.

He noted that this approach reflects Governor Radda’s commitment to inclusive governance and evidence-based planning, aimed at ensuring that the budget addresses the real needs and aspirations of Katsina residents.
