Jigawa Pension Board Disburses N1.4 Billion To 564 Retirees

The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board has disbursed over N1.4 billion to 564 retirees.

Executive Secretary, Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme, Dr. Binyaminu Shitu Aminu, disclosed while briefing newsmen.

He explained that a total sum of N1,429,201,208.92 will be distributed among the 564 retirees, saying that, this amount includes retirement benefits, death benefits, and death pension balances.

Dr. Aminu revealed that N1,191,804,237.17 will be paid to 485 civil servants who retired from active service, while N226,547,197.84 will go to the families of 71 deceased civil servants, and N10,849,773.91 will be disbursed to the families of 8 pensioners as death pension balances.

The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to timely disbursement of entitlements, including the payment of monthly pensions during on the first day of each month. 

Earlier speaking while addressing the beneficiaries at the Pension House prior to the disbursement, the State Accountant General, Alhaji Abdullahi S.G. Shehu described Jigawa’s pension model as one of the best in the country.

The AG reiterated Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s commitment to the welfare of civil servants and retirees, emphasizing that Jigawa’s pension scheme is exemplary, attracting visits from other states seeking to learn from its approach.

He commended Governor Namadi for his dedication to enhancing the scheme.

He noted that since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Namadi has injected over N11billion to strengthen and improve the pension scheme, ensuring its status as the best in the country.
