Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has said the 2026 budget of ₦901.8 billion reflects the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state as expressed during the citizens’ engagement programme.
Governor Namadi stated this on Wednesday after signing the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law at the Council Chamber, Government House, Dutse.
He said the budget was formulated based on inputs gathered from stakeholders across the 27 local government areas of the state, describing it as realistic and people-oriented.
It would be recalled that the Jigawa State House of Assembly passed into law the ₦901.8 billion 2026 State Appropriation Bill, alongside ₦288 billion in local government budgets.
The budget, tagged “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II,” was presented to the Assembly on November 25, 2025. It places strong emphasis on capital expenditure, which accounts for 77 per cent of the total budget, with education receiving over 26 per cent, while agriculture also features prominently to stimulate economic growth and development.
Speaking after signing the budget into law, Governor Namadi said the document captures the genuine needs of the people.
“The inputs for this budget were gathered during our citizens’ engagement programme across the 27 local government councils of the state,” he said.
The governor commended the State House of Assembly for the timely scrutiny and passage of the bill, as well as members of the State Executive Council for approving the citizens’ engagement process and compiling the demands for appropriate action.
